Leadership at Large: Extreme Management on Mountain Bike

Leadership at Large: Extreme Management on Mountain Bike

Mountain biking can teach us valuable lessons on planning, improvisation, focus, balance, team building, vision, agile management, and more. This year-long course consists of a series of eight campus lectures and eight full-day riding trips in remote locations ranging from the Dead Sea to Judea Desert to the Hermon Summit. We explore extreme individual and group settings that demand unique leadership skills, as they come to play in challenging outdoor activities and interactions with top business leaders and technology innovators.

We combine our mountain bike day-trips with field visits in companies and organizations that face extreme changes and challenges. For example, during 2011 we visited the headquarters of Given Imaging, MobilEye, Tami-4, the ecological village home of the Vertigo Dance Group, and an F16 squadron in Ramon.

The course participants are 40 men and women who are senior executives as well as avid mountain bikers. The last two courses included CEOs and VPs of MobilEye, IBI, Flash Networks, RSA, Sandisk, Promedico, Mars International, Keren Kayemet, Shiba Hospital, Kupat Holim Klalit, Moeza Mekomit Megilot, SodaStream, Mei Eden, Final, Siemens, NanoMotion, Orbit, 888, Kesselman CPAs, Abott, Ormat, Radcom, Hogla Kimberly, and more.
